Rubber Grommets
Grommets are useful in electronic applications when a wire or tube needs to pass through metal or another material that may cause damage. Grommets are usually used to cover the rough edges of a hole in a metal plate to protect whatever is passing through it. They are very commonly used to protect or cover cables or wires from sharp corners or edges. Grommets manufactured at Western Rubbers guarantee precision, performance and safety.

Elastomers Used for Manufacturing Rubber Grommets
One of the most versatile synthetic rubbers. Can resist a very wide range of temperatures from -50 to 300 degree celsius.
Ethylene Propylene Diene Rubber has excellent weather, heat, and ozone resistance due to saturated polymer chain.
Also known as FKM or Fluoroelastomer, it is known to have excellent chemical resistance in comparison to all materials.
Nitrile Butadiene Rubber known for its swell resistance use in alcohol, petrochemical and other derived fluids.
Also known as Chloroprene rubber & has chlorine in its polymer chain. Due to this it is naturally fire retardant.
The only available natural rubber sourced from rubber trees, it has one of the best physical properties amongst all elastomers.

Determining the application of a grommet
The application of the grommet can vary from edge protection in a metallic through hole to control against vibration or in weather protection for wires.
Determining the Size
The exact size needs to be decided based on the metal frame thickness and the diameter of through hole around which a grommet has to be installed.
Material
The correct rubber needs to be decided based on the application. Example, if the application is in areas of elevated temperatures, then appropriate elastomers need to be selected for durability of the product.
