Advanced O-Ring
Sealing Solutions for
Demanding Applications

O Rings
O-rings are round, mechanical gaskets used as sealing instruments. They are designed to be seated in a groove and compressed during assembly between two or more parts. Western Rubbers can manufacture O-rings in standard sizes and also customize them to meet client specifications. We can formulate compounds for O-rings to meet USP, WRAS, FDA, EU Pharmacopoeia and other such stringent industry standards.
Applications of O-Rings

- Compressors
- Pumps
- Valves
- Engines
- Boilers
- Condensers
- Refrigerators
- Heaters
- Heat Exchangers

Elastomers Used for
Manufacturing O Rings

Ethylene Propylene (EPDM)
Ethylene Propylene Diene Rubber has excellent weather, heat, and ozone resistance due to saturated polymer chain.
Natural Rubber (NR)
The only available natural rubber sourced from rubber trees, it has one of the best physical properties amongst all elastomers.
Hydrogenated Nitrile (HNBR)
It is a saturated form of nitrile rubber known for physical strength retention and resistance to oil, heat and chemicals.
Silicone (VMQ)
One of the most versatile synthetic rubbers. Can resist a very wide range of temperatures from -50 to 300 degree celsius.
Viton® (FKM)
Also known as FKM or Fluoroelastomer, it is known to have excellent chemical resistance in comparison to all materials.
Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)
Poly Tetra Fluoro Ethylene or fluoroplastics are preferred for manufacturing Diaphragms and seals.
Nitrile
Nitrile Butadiene Rubber is known for its swell resistance use in alcohol, petrochemical and other derived fluids.
SBR
Styrene Butadiene Rubber generally competes with natural rubber in its properties. It is extensively used in manufacturing of tyres.
FFKM (perfluroelastomer)
FFKM or per fluoroelastomer can withstand the most hazardous chemicals available.
Chemrez®
FFKM branded by Greene Tweed.
Kalrez®
FFKM branded by Dupont.
Aflas®
Brand name of TFE/P owned by Asahi Glass Co. Offers high heat resistance & highly compatible with acids & bases.
Other Types of Sealing Rings

X Rings
Also known as quad rings, they offer twice the sealing surface as compared to standard o-rings.
Square Rings
Offer the sealing function in a more superior manner compared and at lower costs.
PTFE Encapsulated O-Rings
Have excellent chemical resistance, temperature resistance and mechanical properties.
Sponge O-Rings
Manufactured using a foaming agent, which creates an air-filled matrix structure within the rubber.
